For some odd reason I've always found something remarkable romantic about ship's funnels and their design elements. On the left is a pic I took on the original Queen Mary in the sixties and on the right, the new Queen Mary 2. The foghorn on the new Queen Mary was originally mounted on the old Mary. It can be heard for ten miles. Which is the same distance as it took the first Queen Mary to stop. Handy that!
