Looking alone at the sea boiling up at the stern at is something you should never do at night. If you spend too long, the sparkling, swirling lumescent wake can have a hypnotic effect which has drawn susceptable sailors over the stern rail and into to a watery grave. It is not an old salt's tale. Be aware if standing alone for long periods at night this majestic sight can have its perils!
